I’m Nigel!

As a three-time founder, I enjoy investing in early stage startups and advising teams on the company-building process. My Maine roots inspired me as an entrepreneur to use startups as a vehicle to increase access to solar power here in the US and internationally, where I lived between Ethiopia and Somalia for a number of years. A love for brand, design and the outdoors led me to create a cannabis brand here in California and preserve a space for the small farmer in that ecosystem.

I am currently one of the senior Principals at ADL Ventures, where I help legacy sector corporations invest in next generation smart city technology and convert IP into individual companies that can scale unbound by red tape.

My passion is supporting ambitious founders, especially those who will lead the next era of consumer products, from physical to digital, that more closely mirror our evolution as a society. We are increasingly demanding more transparency from brands in exchange for loyalty, everyone is more tuned in to environmental impacts of their buying decisions across the board and new technology has the potential to unlock the next wave of platforms that focus more on network and shared value.

As the descendant of an interracial marriage that was once illegal in 16 states, I appreciate diversity and identities that straddle different worlds. Outside of investing, I continue to advise social enterprises that accept the challenge of navigating this liminal space.
