Hi

I’m Nigel!

As a three-time founder, I enjoy investing in early stage startups and advising teams on the company-building process. My Maine roots inspired me as an entrepreneur to use startups as a vehicle to increase access to solar power here in the US and internationally, where I lived between Ethiopia and Somalia for a number of years. A love for brand, design and the outdoors led me to help create a cannabis company in California that preserves a space for the small farmer in that world.

I am current the director of the venture capital arm of a utility that is globally diversified in gas, electricity and electricity. We invest in early-stage companies across North America, Europe and the Nordics that are at the forefront of the digital and physical transformation in our energy systems.

As a former founder, and one who remains motivated by sustainability, transparency and a moral compass, I enjoy supporting ambitious founders tacking the big opportunities in energy and beyond. As the descendant of a multi-racial lineage, I appreciate myriad cultures, diversity and identities that straddle different worlds. Outside of investing, I continue to advise social enterprises that accept the challenge of navigating this liminal space.
